Plitvice Lakes are the oldest and largest national park in the Republic of Croatia. It is situated in crossroads between southwest and northeast of Croatia. It was proclaimed national park in 1949 and in 1997. Was added to UNESCO world heritage list. The Park has 16 small and big lakes cascading one into another. Park is most famous because of its marvellous views of the lakes and waterfalls. The area is also significant because it is home to more than 250 animal species and around 1500 various plants.
